A small Harley with a single cylinder and 353 cc has been buzzing through the media since 2019. Nothing tangible so far. A Harley-Davidson 500, which is on the test bench at QJ Motors, is much more tangible . QJ is known as the mother of Benelli and there is a 500 with a tubular steel frame: the Leoncino 500. It is based on the QJ Motors SRV 550 and it should also be the small Harley foundation

If we take the Leoncino 500 as the technical sister of the 500 Harley as a basis , then it fits perfectly into the A2 class: the 500 twin delivers exactly the permitted 35 kilowatts of power or 47.6 hp at 8,500 rpm. 46 Nm are available at 6,000 tours. Euro 5 and 6-speed gearboxes are mandatory, as is Bosch ABS. A USD fork with a diameter of probably 50 millimeters hangs in the tubular frame at the front. It is not known whether the fork on the Harley is adjustable like on the Benelli. The double disc brake system at the front is striking. Whether it comes from Brembo, like the Benelli, or from the Brembo daughters Bybre or JJuan is not clear. For the projected use in Asia, the cheaper versions are more likely.

Visually, the Harley-Davidson 500 boldly mixes the styles of its big sister from Milwaukee. The round headlight at the front is bottom-mounted, i.e. screwed to the lower fork bridge and is reminiscent of the XR 1200. The rear could come from the current Fat Bob, the license plate holder is mounted on the swing arm, the 3- 1 rear turn signal.

As with the 353 R, Harley is likely to target the Asian or South American market with the 500. In Europe, small water-cooled Harleys like the Street 750 have hitherto not been well received. The chances of seeing the 500s in Germany are rather low.
