On the occasion of the Hornet Concept launched by Honda at EICMA 2021, the conversation about the imminent return of the middle naked was reopened. In fact, the first video released by the Japanese opened a great conversation, as both its sound and the image of two pistons going up and down side by side left clear suspicions that the next day will not be four-cylinder, but two-cylinder.

Obviously some will consider it sacrilege, but the reality has changed a lot since the Hornet 600 was powered by CBR600 engines, as the twin-cylinder in-line has now become a role model in all parts of the world – from Europe to China and India – and we must not forget that in the Euro 5 world there is no longer a CBR600, only domesticated offspring such as the CB / CBR 650R.

The two new short videos that the Honda Spaniards post on their Instagram do not add anything new to the gossip mill. Instead, they repeat the same sound background that is more reminiscent of a two-cylinder engine – or rather a crossplane device that mimics a two-cylinder in operation.

Their reappearance is also seen by a large portion of the international press as an indication that the unveiling of the new Hornet, or at least the new motorcycle that will bear this logo, is imminent.
